Chinese vessel exports up 70.6 percent year-on-year
The Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has released new figures showing that the country exported 70.6 percent more vessels in February 2010 than in February 2009. The Ministry’s figures showed that China’s ship exports for February 2010 were worth nearly US$3.8 billion. In the same month, China imported US$110 million worth of ships, boats and floating structures, up 7.5 percent than a year ago.
The total value of exported ships, boats and floating structure reached US$28.36 billion in 2009, up 44.9 percent year-on-year. Import values increased dramatically by 92.5 percent to reach US$2.48 billion, Chinese customs figures added. (source: Baird Maritime)
