Discounter TTC to empty ACT Terminal in Amsterdam?

TTC representatives recently visited the Amsterdam Port and spoke with the Amsterdam port authorities and ACT terminal. This was confirmed by the two companies. The Chinese carrier earlier announced to start a container service between Shanghai and Hamburg/Rotterdam with 10 – 11 vessels. Goal of the conversations was to change the expensive Rotterdam Port for the cheaper alternative; the unemployed container terminal ACT in Amsterdam.

There are a few hick ups for TTC to start in Amsterdam. The ACT terminal in Amsterdam is for container carriers unknown compared to Rotterdam. Besides that could the increasing charter rates on the world market be a problem for the discounter TTC. TTC wants to offer basic services. The company will charter 3.500 teu till 4.300 teu vessels and does not offer door to door service and will not use feeder and barge. This kind of basic transport suits the secondary terminal as ACT is. (source NT)
