Chinese rate index for container export decreases
The announcement starting up new loops between Far East and Europe, has ended the increase of dump rates for Chinese export goods for the time being. The Shanghai Containerised Freight Index, that raised by over 60% since October, showed a decline for the first time in 13 weeks. The average rate for transporting a container with Chinese goods to North Europe used to be 2.104 dollar/teu. That is 60 dollar less than the week before.
After PIL/Wan Hai, CSAV Norasia and the CKYH- alliance, both the Grand and New World Alliances confirmed to put extra space on this loop. The capacity will raise by 7% between Far East and Europe, according AXS-Alphaliner.
With these extra services the carriers finally meet the requirements for the huge cargo volume. The container handling in Shanghai raised with 23%. Singapore handled 2,18 million teu (+18%) last month. (source NT)
