Two alliances start Far East service
The New World Alliance and the Grand Alliance start a new service between Europe and Far East. Both Alliances have 3 loops and will exchange mutual slots. For Hapag Lloyd, NYK and OOCL the new service will be the D-loop. The New World Alliance - APL, Hyundai Merchant Marine and Mol – will renew the China Europe Express (CEX), althought the rotation may be different of the previous one. The first departure of the new service will be leaving from Qingdao with the NYK Lyra (6.182 teu) , on March 23th. Thereafter Shanghai, Shekou, Yantian and Singapore will called for arrival in Le Havre, Southampton, Rotterdam and Hamburg. The return trip to Qindao, sails via Singapore, Chiwan and Shekou.
Ten vessels will be operation in the new service. APL delivers 5 sisterships of 6.350 teu. The Grand Alliance will throw the Bangkok Express (6.750 teu) of Hapag Lloyd and three 5.700 teu units of OOCL into gear. (source NT)
