Turkish Airline Company Expands Its Fleet To 21 Planes
Turkish airline company SunExpress, a subsidiary of Turkey's national air carrier Turkish Airlines (THY) and Germany's Lufthansa, has expanded its fleet to 21 planes with its recent purchase of a Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Releasing a written statement on Monday, SunExpress said that the average age of its fleet reached 7.7 and its seat capacity rose up to 4,044 thanks to its latest purchase of a plane to be used in Antalya-based flights. SunExpress, which had increased its number of passengers by 32.3 percent in 2009, desired to reach 7 million passengers and increase its number of aircrafts to 25 in 2010, the statement also said. SunExpress was founded in October 1989 as a subsidiary company of Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa. Today, SunExpress is the market leader in charter flights between Germany and Turkey as well as one of the largest scheduled carriers between Europe and southern Turkey. (DO-CE)
