Restrictions Syria

With regard to the European Council decision 2011/273/CFPS of 9 May 2011 concerning restrictive measures against Syria, the EU published Council Regulations 442/2011 that codifies and imposes new EU measures against Syria, Syrian persons and specific goods.
Therefore some carriers have a procedure in place for all bookings with following highlights.
1) Booking must be in writing (not via phone/EDI) - special form will be sent to you (to be filled out by shipper)
2) No 'to order' BL' s (unless to order of a bank which is not black-listed)
3) No other parties then shipper/consignee/notify may be mentioned in the BL
4) Real receiver must be mentioned as consignee or notify
5) Contacting parties / commodities may not appear on black-list
6) A letter of indemnity must be signed prior loading by the shipper mentioned in the BL
7) Containers will only be loaded if MSC has the letter of indemnity AND MRN (movement reference number) is in our possession.
8) The bill of lading will have following clause inserted:
Merchant declares to Carrier that the goods, persons, entities, bodies for which this booking applies are in full compliance with EU Regulation 442/2011 and any amendments thereto. (source: MSC)
