Ignorance threatens safe hamzat transport

Regulatory authorities must properly secure the supply chain to cope with increased safety and security pressures, says David Brennan, head of dangerous goods and regulations at IATA.

Speaking to Air Cargo News, Brennan said the organisations need to effectively oversee it not just at the airline level, but down through to the shippers.
“If you have well-trained, knowledgeable and compliant shippers you’ve addressed the risk,” he said. “Securing goods at the point of origin with an accredited shipper, so that their goods aren’t subjected to checks and tests means their goods move faster.”
