Air France-KLM cargo traffic climbs

Flight cancellations brought on by harsh weather conditions had little effect on Air France-KLM cargo traffic in the third quarter, which saw a 4.9 per cent rise for capacity up by 3.8 per cent.

The load factor grew to 70.4 per cent (0.7 points). Unit revenue per available tonne kilometre rose 22 per cent. Revenues increased by 27.7 per cent after a positive currency impact of 6.7 per cent to €830 million (US$1.1 million). The operating result stood at €60 million ($80.7 million) after a loss of €29 million ($39 million) at 31 December 2009.

In the nine months to December 2010 cargo traffic progressed by 3.4 per cent with capacity down 1.2 per cent, leading to a three point rise in load factor to 68.6 per cent.

The airline has seen a positive start to 2011 with cargo traffic rising in line with capacity by 3.4 per cent and 3.3 per cent, respectively. The load factor was stable at 64.3 per cent.
