CMA CGM Expands Black Pearl Service

CMA CGM Group is extending its Black Pearl service to Chile, Ecuador, Panama, and Peru. The company said it was upgrading the weekly service in response to growing demand for exports between the United States and the West Coast of South America and between the United States and the Caribbean.

Effective Dec. 12, 2010, the carrier will deploy six 1,100-TEU vessels on a new rotation:

New York - Halifax - Kingston - Cartagena - Punta Manzanillo - Balboa - Guayaquil - Callao - Arica - San Antonio - Callao - Guayaquil - Punta Manzanillo - Kingston - Miami - Philadelphia - New York.

“This upgraded service will not only offer an extended coverage of the areas served but also numerous connections to the Caribbean Rim, East Coast of South America and the Far East thanks to seamless relay in Kingston and Balboa,” commented Jean-Yves Duval, vice president Caribbean and Latin American lines, CMA CGM Group.

In the revised service, CMA CGM will offer extended coverage of the Caribbean as well as the Mexican Gulf Coast and the East Coast of South America via transshipment in Kingston. The carrier will provide connections with the Far East on its PEX3 service via Balboa and with northern Europe via Kingston as well.
