Port sets record in September of scales

The Port Complex of Itajaí ended September with a record drive of 113 ships, which transported 935,170 tons of goods. Of the total number of dockings, the public pier APM Terminals Itajaí received 47 ships, 51 Portonave Braskarne dockings and terminals, and polyterminais Teporti received eight, six ships and one, respectively.

Regarding the handling of containers, the complex moved 90,250 TEUs (equivalent units a 20-foot container) in September, leaving the APM Terminals 38,593 TEUs, and Thy Portonave Braskarne 528 51 133 TEUs. "It is noteworthy that in September APM reported its best performance of the year," said commercial director of the Port of Itajai, Robert Grantham. He points out that during 2010 the operations of import and export of empty and full containers showed virtually in balance.

In the year of the Complex Itajaí recorded a turnover of 6.3 million tonnes against 3.3 million in the same period in 2009. With respect to containers, the cumulative records against the Thy 684 660 395 110 TEUs in the same period of 2009. "We 're getting closer to our goal for this year, 800 thousand TEUs," said Superintendent Antonio dos Santos Junior Ayres.
