Santos Port concludes fitness for ISPS Code
After six years preparing, the Port of Santos announced yesterday, 26 days, which is able to receive the visit of the technical CONPORTOS (National Committee for Public Security in Ports, Terminals and Waterways) to obtain the Statement of Compliance with the rules of ISPS Code - the security code set by the IMO (International Maritime Organisation) that determines the adoption of counter-terrorism measures. After inspecting held yesterday, the regional arm of CONPORTOS the CESPORTOS (State Commission for Public Security in Ports, Terminals and Waterways) concluded that the Port of Santos has fulfilled the necessary measures.
In a statement, Codesp (state which administers the port) highlighted that CESPORTOS inspected the facilities of the Center Operations Command Security gates for access to customs areas, the accreditation system and checked also the completion of pending issues pointed out by CONPORTOS occasion of the visit of the port in 2008, considering the whole system capable of receiving, in brief, the visit of the national commission.
