July logs record the delivery of vessels
Port container add 200 000 Your overall fleet this month. Deliveries of new container port will reach more than 200 000 Teus (equivalent to one unit of equipment 20 feet) in July - the highest level ever recorded in a single month. According to statistics from consulting Alphaliner, 747 000 Thy were added to the world fleet in the first half of this year.
IDC estimates that 1.45 million Thy will be delivered later this year. With the total for this month, 950 000 Teus (or 7.3% of the fleet) will be added in the first seven months of the year.
Most of July will be achieved due to the delivery of at least eight vessels with capacity for more than 10 000 Nominal Teus. The inclusion of port container large should continue, with more than 12 units of over 10 000 Teus each set for August and September. The boats were ordered for four major owners - CMA CGM, Maersk Line, MSC and Zim (being that Evergreen charter of these vessels).
The average size of new container port is delivered in July of more than 6000 Teus. The previous monthly record was recorded in April 2008 when 156 000 Teus capacity were added to the global fleet - but at the time, the average size of new vessels was 3,700 Teus.
