Itajaí Port - Complex movement increases by almost 97%

The Port Complex Itajaí almost doubled the volume handled in the first half of this year over the same period last year. The plant leaked 4.73 million tons, an increase of 96.44% over the first six months last year.

The amount corresponds to 423 760 Teus unit (equivalent to a container 20 feet) - an increase of 78% rises the period between January and June 2009. With these numbers, the operations at the port terminals and other public already exceeded 50% of the target set for this year, 800 000 Teus and 8.35 million tons.

In June alone, the operations advanced 59% over the same period last year. However, in comparison with the previous month, the complex was reduced in operated volumes, from 91,200 TEUs in May, to 70,580 TEUs in June. In tonnage, the volumes operated in the last month totaled 760,170 tons, compared to the 879,770 tons recorded in May.

The biggest drop occurred in the handling of empty containers, with 41%. On export containers filled retreat was 12.5% while the import reached 9.2% shrinkage.

Regarding the number of attractions in the Port of Itajai showed a decrease of 108 calls in the previous month to 101 calls in June. Of these, 49 were in Portonave and 43 stops in Teconvi. The other reductions were in the upstream terminal, and there were no attractions in reefer vessels.
