Volcanic Ash does not stop Embassy Freight Services (Midlands)

The UK MD at the above office was stranded in Dubai following a Middle East sales trip. On
Sunday 18th his flight direct back to Birmingham was cancelled, the next option offered by Emirates
was the 30th April, otherwise a ticket transfer to France (Charles de Gaulle) on Tuesday 20/4 departing @ 08.20.
This was the best option open to him.
Taxi at 05.00 from the hotel to the airport on arriving at DXB to find that all UK still cancelled but thankfully CDG was open.
He had made a Eurotunnel (re fundable) booking, first available 22/4, just in case, and a ferry booking ex Le Havre @ 18.30 to
Portsmouth. A rental car booking was made, only available from Southampton collection up to 23.00 hours.
On arrival at 14.30 hours, CDG he was met by Bernard Dominici MD at Embassy Freight - France, the car journey by
the Embassy local office was non stop drive to catch the ferry, arriving at 17.40, time to collect the ticket and board.
Needless to say, the ferry did its bit, arriving at 21.00 GMT, the usual foot passengers numbers had swelled
over the days, to 300+ per crossing so passport control was overrun but cleared by 21.45, just in time to collect the hire
Car, and arrive back home at 02.00 hours 21st April. Tired but happy to be back.
Wednesday back in to e mails, but thankful to be back home.
