Air service accord with Chile

Malaysia and Chile have signed an air services agreement to keep pace with the aviation sector’s rapid development.

The Transport Ministry said in a statement both countries had also formalised a memorandum of understanding which would enable designated airlines from Chile and Malaysia to operate on unlimited frequencies on third, fourth, fifth and sixth traffic rights to passenger, cargo and mail.
“These services also will not have any limitation on capacity and types of aircraft,” it said.

Transport Ministry secretary-general Datuk Long See Wooi said the accord had the potential to spur greater trade, investment and tourism not only between both countries but also between South-East Asia and South America regions.
Chile is Malaysia’s third important trading partner in South America.
